How to setup Multi-Factor Authentication

Multi factor authentication ( MFA or 2FA ) is an additional layer of security on your School District #50 account.  Multi factor authentication combines two or more independent credentials: what the user knows, such as your password; what the user has, such as your mobile phone.

Multi factor authentication is mandatory for all Staff Accounts at School District#50.

Setting up MFA


After signing into your account by providing your username and password you will be prompted to provide more information as illustrated.  Click Next

Now choose " I want to setup a different method " as illustrated below:

In the drop down box that pops up select " Phone

Enter your mobile phone number including the area code in the space provided and click next.

You will receive a text message shortly,  This message often comes from a 5-digit number, this is not your verification code.  The verification code will always be a 6-digit number each time and will be within the text message.  Enter that 6-digit number and click next.

Your account is now more secure. Click next and you can now close your browser tabs.

Common questions:

Q: How often should I have to enter this code.

A: Approximately every 3-months from a known device. You will need to provide the code when you log in from a new device or new location.

Q: I keep getting asked for my code every time I log in..

A: This will happen if you primarily use incognito or private browsing mode.  Use normal browsing to prevent this.

Q:  I don't have a cellular phone or I prefer not to use my cellular phone for this, what are my options?

A:  In this case please reach out to Steve or Ryan and SD50 will provide you a special device pre-programmed with the codes.
